Paying the Credit Card Statement/need to be able to set close date other than month end

In V.13, in order to pay the credit card statement, we have to enter a standard invoice as Pre-Paid with a fake check number because we pay the credit card bill online.  However, the credit card statement is dated in May, but we paid it in June and this screen won't allow the invoice date and the payment date to be in different months.  I know there's a work-around by entering and posting the invoice first, then processing a fake check to pay it but that just adds more steps and is less efficient.  Please consider allowing different dates to be used for invoice and payment within the Invoice/Credit Memo Entry screen.
