Job Cost Tax Classification Codes vs Sales/Use Tax Codes

We currently use job cost tax classification codes. The main problem with that is that very often the material isn't shipped to the job so the applicable tax code could be different than the job. We have to try to remember to change the tax code on the affected POs and then two more problems arise - the PO detail screen doesn't always "hold" the corrected tax code, and if you go into invoice approval to put an invoice on hold, the tax defaults back to the job tax classification code and the vendor can be underpaid or overpaid if we don't remember to check the tax code before exiting the approval screens. We are contemplating not using job cost tax classification codes, and using the applicable sales or use tax code on each PO instead. I would appreciate feedback on the pros/cons of not using job cost tax classification codes. Thank you!
