In regards to the Employee File Maintenance and the check box for "DELETE AT YEAR END IF TERMINATED Option:

First this checkbox should not even be available in this menu but since it is, a warning should be given that all information will be purged at year end. This option should only be under Payroll Period end. The consequence of this totally eliminates PR reports, we can no longer go back under history and verify hours for 09, 08 or any year prior for an employee who may have worked. We want to have the capability to purge employees after a length of time they have not been here, such as 5 or 7 years, but it SHOULD NOT be an option on a data entry screen.

The other thing it messes up, is the ability to verify employment whether by new employers, banks or Employment Security.

Is the only way to restore deleted employee information by tape backup? If so, is that going to mess up year to date?

This may have been a mistake, but it is one that could be avoided by removing that from the employee maintenance screen. Or like I said a warning message pops up stating the consequences of deleting an employee at year end.

When it asks this in a data screen, it seems it would only delete the employee from the active list and not purge information.
