Hello all,

We do quite a bit of T&M Billing on maintenance accounts here and have a suggestion for an enhancement to the Billing Selection module, if possible. The ability to select some hours from a time card line, leaving the line with the new total hours remaining for selection on a different billing would greatly help us!

For example, we generally run maintenance accounts for clients under one job, set up as T&M. An employee may work on this job for 8 hours one day and payroll is entered as such; 8 hours to job "ABC999T." However, those 8 hours may pertain to different work order numbers and, for invoicing purposes, 4 hours should go on one billing and the remaining 4 hours to another. However, in billing selection, we can only select the one day in its entirety and then, in the Modify Billing module, adjust the hours for that day to the correct amount needed for that particular billing. The other half of that work day's hours have to be generated in Billing Transaction Entry for the next billing, or we have to "kill off" all the items for the next billing entirely and just run the bill directly through A/R. 

The only other alternative I could imagine would be to try breaking out the hours in Payroll Entry, but payroll doesn't get turned in by work order, it gets turned in by job. So when I enter payroll, I have no idea which portions of an employee's work day at a particular job were to one work order or another unless I already have a three-part form filled out to compare.

If there were an option or extra column to only select a portion of an employee's work hours, leaving the rest remaining for selection later, it would make our jobs so much easier! The closest scenario I could compare it to is the Accounts Payable | Payment Processing screen, where one can type in an amount of his or her choice to pay and leave the rest remaining.

If there is any way around this that we are unaware of, please reply - or if this actually is an option and we're missing something, let us know. :)
