Idea: Auto-deposit GL liability account in Payroll issue.

More information: Issue: On the Payroll Installation Screen, a G/L account is required for the Auto-Deposit Liability account.



Since the auto-deposit amounts are posted to the Cash Management Payroll Bank Account, setting the “Cash in bank” and “Automatic deposit liability” accounts to be the same allows the Bank Reconciliation to be performed with no additional transactions required.

In an Entity situation, the “Cash in bank” account will change when the “Bank Account” is changed during Payroll Payment cycle setup. However, since the “Check cost center” must be changed to reflect the appropriate entity an error occurs when the “Automatic deposit liability” is set to be the same as the default “Cash in bank” G/L account.



Two solutions are currently possible, though neither is satisfactory.

Solution 1: Create a separate Automatic Deposit Liability G/L that is open to all cost centers. After posting payroll, a G/L Journal Entry can be made to reclass the credits to the appropriate “Cash in bank” G/L account.
Solution 2: Prior to processing payroll the Payroll Installation Default G/L codes can be changed to reflect the entity’s specific accounts. This option is not recommended.

Desired Solution:

The “Automatic deposit liability” is either done away with or can be changed during Payroll Payment cycle setup.
