pay-period options for payroll reports

I'm not sure if this has been addressed before, but I would love to have the option to run payroll reports by pay-period dates rather than check dates.  Specifically, for the state of New Mexico, I need to report the employees who worked the last day of the payroll quarter.  As it stands right now, I have to do a lot of extra work to get that information out of the system.  I would be great to run a report for the pay-period that includes the date in question to quickly get this needed information.  Has anyone else found an easy way to extract this information?
