Currently the Service Contract inquiry screens as well as the Service Contract Profitability report display costs associated with a Service Contract. However, if a user enters an AP invoice or time-card lines for a work order that is tied to a service contract, they are able to STRIP the service contract# out. This causes the transaction to post without a service contract being referenced. The costs are visible on the work order only and do not display on the Service Contract inquiry screens or on the Service Contract Profitability report.
This has caused us concern as we were relying on the Service Contract Profitability report to provide accurate reporting on costs, revenue and profits associated with Service Contracts. Now we have found that our costs are lower than they should be and our margins higher than should be reported.
We contacted support who spoke with Development and this is apparently working as designed. They advised to submit an Enhancement Request. We feel the design is flawed if it allows you to mis-report the cost information on a Service Contract Profitability report. Please fix this so that we at least have the option to disallow users from stripping out the service contract # when generating a transaction tied to a work order that was generated through Service contracts.
