Adding alternate names is fine but then we have to check the address on the W9 and if it is different type it in so the 1099 is sent to the correct address.

My recommendation would be to make the main address the 1099 address. Then use locations for everywhere else. You can assign a location address as the default effectively giving you what you are asking for.
