When creating new vendors, the vendor code is padded with leading spaces so that it is right-aligned and 10 characters long. This makes it impossible to sort vendors by their vendor code because the leading spaces are included in the sorting.
The "Change Vendor Code" utility also right-aligns the vendor codes by padding them with leading spaces.
