The standrd cost of an inventory item only updates when you receive it through the Inventory module. When we receive the material through PO/AP there is no change in the standard cost unless we update it manually. This would need additional time for the AP clerk otherwise we don't have accurate information.

There are a couple of options on the PO Install screen that may help you here.
On the Properties tab, there are two questions that ask to update standard cost for non-job and job items that come in via PO's. The options are:
No - never change standard cost based on PO receiving.
Yes - always change the standard cost based on the latest PO receiving.
Only if lower - lower the standard cost when the amount in PO receiving was lower than what was already stored.
There is a similar prompt in the Inventory Install screen that asks the same thing.
Perhaps you can test out setting the prompts differently to see if that works for you.
