When a withholding tax for a municipality has an annual cap, the Subject-to-Tax Report shows the Gross Wages and exempt wages, but does not show excess wages over the cap. When Monthly or Quarterly withholding reports and Annual Reconciliations are prepared for each municipality, I have to go back on each page of the Subject-to-Tax Report and see which municipality has a cap and then calculate each employee individually and manually change the wages to reflect against the tax withheld. This is very time consuming especially if we have many employees working in an area where there is a cap. When Viewpoint/Spectrum was contacted about this issue, I was told no such report exists and we could request a custom report created. If you are given the option to enter a cap on withholding tax, there should be such a report that shows Gross wages, excess wages and tax withheld.
