As it currently stands...our prevailing wage and Davis Bacon wage rate set up works...sort of...but I feel like it could be so much smoother and easier if there were wage rate boxes that allow you to add the base rate, and fringe rate and then have the system calculate the OT instead of us just entering the OT rate already calculated. Especially for the purposes of this new no tax on OT rule. There is no way in Spectrum to separate this out so I don't know how we're supposed to be compliant in reporting and taxing OT wages for Davis Bacon employees. I was told that Spectrum doesn't yet have a solution for this since there hasn't been much guidance from the IRS. The way we do it now also makes it so that the gross wages are never truly correct on reports since we have to reduce the fringe by putting in a negative add on code to reduce wages but there is no way to make that amount be accounted for in the gross wages. So taxable wages are correct but gross wages are not. It's very frustrating and I think this whole system needs to be looked at for Davis Bacon/prevailing wage considering this is a construction software, I would think it would be a little more tailored to how many construction companies pay their employees. If the system could calculate fringe benefits per employee based on the add ons....that would be even better!!
