We have had several jobs where the initial start of the project holds retention at 10% and then on a future billing starts holding at 5% (not releasing the original amounts billed down to 5% but rather having a varied amount.

Example:

Holding 10% retention:

Bill 1: Line 1 - Current billing: $10,000 Total billed: $10,000 Ret: $1,000

          Line 2 - Current billing: $12,000  Total billed: $12,000 Ret: 1,200

If holding bill 2 at 10% retention:

Bill 2: Line 1 - Current billing: $10,000 Total billed: $20,000 Ret: $2,000

          Line 2 - Current billing: $14,000 Total billed: $26,000 Ret: $2,600

If billing 1 should still be 10% and billing 2 should be at 5%, the system doesn't allow for this "variable" retention. If changing billing 2 to 5%, here's how the system calculates it:

Bill 2: Line 1 - Current billing: $10,000 Total billed: $20,000 Ret: $1,000

          Line 2 - Current billing: $15,000 Total billed: $27,000 Ret: $1,300

When it needs to be calculated like this

Bill 2: Line 1 - 10% retention on bill 1 current billing ($1,000) + 5% retention on bill 2 current billing ($500) = $1,500

          Line 2 - 10% retention on bill 1 current billing ($1,200) + 5% retention on bill 2 current billing (1,300) = $2,500

The only way to achieve this right now is to manually calculate this outside the system and then override the retention on each draw request line. And it changes every billing, too. So requiring re-entry on each billing of the override amounts.
