We created our mask in 1999. Our needs have changed since then and now we would like to add sub-accounts. This will require a change in the account code mask.

I understand that the change utility exists but how does this relate to the GL Code mask? Does the mask matter anymore?
Good news! This exists today.
The G/L Code Change Utility can be used to restate your G/L codes to the new length. Here is the link to Help that explains more.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This utility goes through and finds every instance of the 'old' G/L code and creates a new record using the 'new'G/L code. Then it deletes the old record. This utility will take many hours to run. When running, no one else can be in Spectrum!
In fact, I have heard of 15 year clients tell me that they started it on Friday afternoon and it was still running on Monday morning...
So if anything, you may want to do a test on a sample company to see how long it takes...
