Enhancement - Special Pricing by phase

Product: Material Management (formally Scale Interface)

Idea: Special Pricing by phase

More information: In our business we have times where the pricing on an asphalt mix may be priced differently within the same job based on what the mix is used for on that job.  Leading to us needing to change the price of the mix in the inventory module or the special job contracts whenever this occurs.

An example of what we would like to be able to do is:

Product code: R14MMA
Job Code: RS38695A
Phase code: 1, price = $10/unit
Phase code: 2, price = $15/unit

The problem this would solve is:
·         What we currently have to do to get this to work is:
o   manually separate the CSV scale ticket file to create 1 ticket file per phase that has different pricing for the same material
o   Set the pricing in the inventory module for phase 1
o   Import the phase 1 tickets
o   Fix any errors
o   Update the file
o   Set the pricing in the inventory module for phase 2
o   Import the phase 2 tickets
o   Fix any errors
o   Update the file
o   (add another block per ticket file needed)

Each time the same mix is used on a different phase means making yet another CSV file.  Adding this feature would allow us to do it all in 1 import.

To me it seems the simplest solution is in the same place where you can put special pricing by jobs, add a field that gives the option to add a phase code so that when a ticket comes in it searches the Database table for the job field and then the phase field and uses the price of the combination if found then if the phase of the ticket does not exist it searches for a blank phase combination and uses that price then if no blank phase exists it uses the price from the inventory module.

An example formula from the perspective of a self-taught crystal reports user.  I know it may not work in practice, but in theory it’s close to what I’m suggesting =)

IF {Scale ticket job} = {special pricing job} and {Scale ticket phase} = {special pricing phase}
Then {Special Price}
Else if {Scale ticket job} = {special pricing job} and {special pricing phase} = “blank”
Then {special Price}
Else {inventory job price}
