Don't process PDF files that will cause CPU utilization to hit and stay at 100% (non-flattened)

When/if a user uploads a non-flattened PDF, the CPU utilization (hosted) goes to 100% and kicks out all users. REALLY need Spectrum to detect this and not just lock everything up. This issue has been occurring since I joined the compnay (over 4 years now). Having support simply tell us to "correct user behavior" is not acceptable. The system needs really should be able to not allow "known bad data"....

We are looking into different options for the viewer as we scope out other potential changes related to document storage.

Thanks Eric, well look into getting that enabled.

Do you know if there are any plans to actually fix the viewer issue in Spectrum?

Actual wording of the option is "Avoid displaying complex PDFs in viewer?".

In the System Admin | Installation | Document Imaging screen we have an option for 'Don't display complex PDFs in viewer' to address this issue. Anything that an initial scan flags as a potential problem PDF will be set to download only. If you turn this feature on and encounter a PDF that is not caught, please send us the PDF so we can analyze it and try to accommodate it with updated programming.

Another "short-term" option would be to at a minimum seperate the DB from the applciation server so even if/when this happens it doesn't stop DB access for data queires outside of the Spectrum application.
