It would save a step and improve security if we could scan documents straight into Spectrum instead of scanning them into a pdf and then uploading that pdf. Especially for sensitive personal information, it would be great to not have a copy saved on people's computers. Plus, it just makes things quicker.

I just wanted to post a note to why I marked this as a 'Will not implement' item...
When we went to the web with version 14, we tried to implement direct scanning and it failed. We then made the conscious decision that we were not going to invest our R&D into pursuing this type of functionality.
Browsers typically can't control hardware without some sort of programming downloaded to the workstation. We tried different plug-ins and applications but found the performance lacking. When it worked (which was rare), it was extremely slow...so slow that we knew that folks wouldn't want to use it (i.e. a minute or two per page!)
If/when technology changes and these limitations are gone, we would be happy to look at this again. But until then it is not something we are going to work on...
