Maybe some day there will be a full-on scheduler in Spectrum, where all LEMS can be scheduled/dispatched. Own (or rental) Equipment (with operators) can be scheduled/dispatched to Jobs/work areas, and Field Mechanics can be scheduled/dispatched to do field services & repairs to that Equipment.
Equipment is assigned/scheduled/dispatched by both "Type" and "Capacity" which is a missing field. This forces both "Type" & "Capacity" information to be recorded in the "Type" field, creating a laundry list of Types.
"Type" is usually the category into which the Equipment belongs. Crane, Roller, Generator, Grader etc.
The "Capacity" is usually (Crane) 100 Ton, 40 Ton, 20 Ton etc. (Roller) 48 Inch, 72 Inch, Weight etc. (Grader) 8 Feet, 12 Feet, 14 Feet etc. If there was an Equipment "Capacity" field, the actual Equipment "Types" would not need to be more than a dozen. And since this information is most useful for assignment, it could be blended together into any scheduler/dispatcher selector field.
If there ever is a scheduler/dispatcher in Spectrum it should schedule all LEMS (Labour/Skills, Equipment/Tools, Materials/Parts, Services (Sub-Contractors & Suppliers) And this should be part of the WORK process front to back.
