When building a report in BI our customers are requesting a % complete based on Billed not Cost since most of our work is T&M our Cost to Date information which would normally work for a Fixed Dollar job does not work for a T&M project.
Since most of our projects are broken out into multiple Phase Codes we need the ability to show % Complete based on Phase but with the Billed to Date measurement not just the Cost to Date measurement. Simply putting the Billed to Date measurement into the Cost Detail Cube would allow T&M work to be foretasted based on % Complete by phase which is not available at this time.

Geoffrey, I tried that, and Billed to Date does not live in that "Cube." Unless I am missing something, the only things available are Cost, Estimated, Projected, Hours, and such, but no billed to date. It is in the Project Management: Job Financiels "Cube," but Phase is not an option there. The same goes for Project Management: Contract Billings. It's available, but Phase is not an option there.
Ryan - I'd check out the new Spectrum Project Management data source/cube over in Trimble Construction One Analytics. This is a 'combo' cube of other job cost cubes from before.
And just so everyone knows, we are upgrading everyone to Trimble Construction One Analytics (powered by Microsoft Power BI) in the near term.
There is no migration process for your existing reports to move to the new platform. This means that you will need to recreate them manually.
The recommended way to get ready for this is to export your Spectrum BI reports to Excel. Not only will you get the columns/measures in the order you desired, it also explains any custom user-defined measures created as well.
Geoff
Billed to Date is not under Project Management Cost Detail "Cube" Its lives in other "Cube's" Such as Contract Billings but we can not see the billed by phase.........
Love it! Thanks Geoff!
This is now a feature in Trimble Construction One Analytics (TC1A) ...fancy way of saying that we have not only moved all of the Spectrum BI data cubes over to TC1A, we have merged all of the job cubes into the Job History one.
On our T&M Projects which most of them are, the "Billed to Date" to the client is the clients "COST" if you will. The problem right now is "Cost to Date" does not reflect mark-up & Overhead. So when the client requests Project Forecasting by Phase Code on a T&M Job, it needs to reflect the "Billed to Date" measurement instead of the "Cost to Date" measurement to get accurate forecasting. Otherwise the forecasting & % Complete measurement is inaccurate since Mark-Up and Overhead is not reflected.
After looking at the % Complete field by Phase Code in the Projected Cost tab, I am unclear if by manipulating this value will reflect the Bill to Date Measurement by Phase Code which is what I am going for.
The other option would be to put Phase Code under "Project Manager: Contract Billings" and add the ability to insert a user defined column in which I can input my own data I can then create a report as needed.
Since we bill every day we try can give the client a good representation of project completeness as accurate as possible sometimes on a daily basis. Depending on the size of the Project they may ask for a report every other day and sometimes during a Turn Around, daily. And I can't complete my roll out to the large sites without the ability to reproduce these reports and am left using our old system partially in tact wasting hours of the day of input until I can reproduce them.
Ryan,
Quick question - how would you envision linking the billings to the cost? I don't think we would get that if we just added billed as a measure.
What am I missing here?
